Abnormalities of carnitine metabolism in human diseases
Journal Title: Journal of Analytical Bio-Science - Year 2012, Vol 35, Issue 4
Abstract
Recently many new diseases involving abnormalities of the carnitine metabolism have been reported. It is very important for every one in the medical field to understand the role carnitine plays in such pathological conditions. I focus especially on some iatrogenic diseases. 1. Hypofreecarnitinemia in drug intake (Sodium valproate, Antibiotics containing pivoxil). 2. Hypofreecarnitinemia in formulas for special medical purposes, enteral nutrient intake, and total parenteral nutrition therapy.

A study on simultaneous measurement method for both platelets and fragmented red cells using flow-cytometric immunoplatelet count
Simultaneous measurement of both platelets and fragmented red cells (FRCs) using the flow-cytometric immunoplatelet (CD41/CD61) count was attempted. FRCs were prepared artificially by heating. The ICSH/ISLH immunoplatele...
Stability and reference interval of serum phosphoglucomutase (PGM)
We examined the stability and reference range of serum phosphoglucomutase (PGM) in healthy subjects. Serum obtained from venous blood was stored at -80℃ and 4℃, and the stability of PGM activity was evaluated by measurin...
The flushed oxygen combustion method with the biological material for trace analysis of phosphorus, sulfur, and halogen
Phosphorus, halogen and sulfur in samples of the organ were measured using the flushed oxygen combustion method. Phosphorus in the sample of an organ remained in the combustion tube, and revealed its structural character...
