ACCENT PARADIGM IN UKRAINIAN SURNAMES INFLECTIONS

Abstract

The author considers accentual peculiarities of Ukrainian surnames from the point of view of morphological paradigmatic; clears out general specifics of accentuating these names; researches the changes in accentuating in connected plural forms of the nominative, genitive, accusative and vocative cases. Such words should be included into the general system of the word change. Most often surnames of dual gender of the first declension and masculine surnames of the second declension with different schemes of accentuation in the singular and in the plural in connection with numerals two, both, three and four and with the composites with closing components two, three, four in the nominative, accusative and vocative cases as traces of the old dual forms have accentuation which coincides with the accentuation of the singular genitive case word forms. Such accentuation is also characteristic to the defined Ukrainian surnames in connection with the numerals five, forty, hundred and others. Generally, there have been defined 12 accentuation paradigms of the subclass antroponyms under research. It appears reasonable to pursue the research in the field of accentuation of the Ukrainian surnames case forms in diachronic, synchronic, dialectal, functional and other aspects.
