ACCOUNTABILITY AND DECISION-MAKING IN SCHOOLS

Abstract

Policy makers and governments require teachers to become accountable for their school’s performance. They claim that performance tests show the level of any school’s accountability by students’ scores on state assessments. Consequently, the results of the assessment may influence in decision making within the school where tests’ score may become an indicator of overall school performance. This paper is piloted an interview as a methodological approach to define how decision-making changes due to the annually taking performance tests. This study found that the most useable model in schools is teacher-based professionalism or professionalism.
