Journal Title: ИДЕИ. ФИЛОСОФСКО СПИСАНИЕ - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 1

Abstract

The text presents basic ideas of the non-dualistic doctrine of Advaita Vedanta in the philosophy of language of Bhartrihari (V century) and his treatise "On the sentences and words." The specifics of Bhartrihari’s interpretation is the identity of Atman and Brahman with the principle of speech (Shabda). Some European parallels are suggested.- with Christian religious texts, ideas of some ancient Greek philosophers, with the interpretation of the language of Wilhelm von Humboldt, as well as more contemporary authors such as Paul Ricoeur and Tzvetan Todorov.
