Journal Title: Alquipir - Year 2021, Vol 16, Issue 1
Abstract
In this article we will analyze an Iberian vase discovered at El Recuesto sanctuary (Cehegín, Murcia), guarded today at the Archaeological Museum of Cehegín. Through the study of this item, its archaeological context and parallels, we can determine it is an Iberian interpretation of a Greek volutekrater, dated on de IV century b.C., epoque of the sanctuary where it could have been used as an offering. Finally, and on the basis of this study, we will make a reflection about the nature of the so called “Greek imitations”, illustrating how this vases are involved into more complex processes rather than just being a mere result of an “hellenization” process.
