Alpha Emitter Intrinsic Concentration in Copper required for Nuclear Spectrometry Application
Journal Title: Journal of Nuclear Physics, Material Sciences, Radiation and Applications - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
Low-level radioactivity content in copper are employed for bolometric thermal radiation sensors and astro-nuclear spectrometers. The required lowest achievable alpha emitters concentration, for treated and untreated surfaces, are measured by Double Sided Silicon Strip Detectors in a high vacuum chamber and provide information on its intrinsic NORM content. Results shows that copper alpha emitters content can be achieved in the range below 0.01 (counts. keV-1·kg-1·y-1) adequate for specific nuclear spectrometry applications.

Structural Stability and Level Density of Hot Rotating Doubly Magic Isotopes of Calcium
The recently reported doubly-magic nuclei 52Ca and 54Ca are discussed in comparison with the other magic isotopes of Calcium. the temperature effect is included in this study and hence the statistical approach to obtain...
Effect of the Critical Angular Momentum on Incomplete Fusion Dynamics
An attempt has been made to calculate the critical angular momentum (ℓcrit ) from the experimentally measured total ER cross-sections and are compared with Bass model predictions (using PACE-2). A comparison between expe...
Density Functional Theory Study of Structural and Electronic Properties of Group V Transition Metal Carbides
The structural and electronic properties of group V transition metal carbides: VC, NbC and TaC are studied using density functional theory with generalized gradient approximation for the exchange and correlation potentia...
Status of Θ13
The Neutrino mixing angle θ13 is at the focus of current neutrino research. Till 2010 the value of θ13 was assumed to be zero. Thanks to a number of consistent experimental efforts now we have a definitive value of θ13....
Nuclear Tracks Morphology Study Using Raman Methodology
In this work, a new methodology for rendering profiles of etched nuclear tracks is presented, using confocal micro-Raman spectrometry instrumentation. The precise profile of etched nuclear tracks with normal and/ or angu...
