An analytical Review of Mahmoud Dowlatabadi’s Plays

Abstract
Mahmoud Dowlatabadi is an influencing contemporary prose writer in Iran who has been also admired in terms of playwriting and screenplay writing. Different aspects of his works have been explored many times by researchers but no scientific study has been conducted on his life and literary abilities, especially in writing plays in the Iranian literature and he has not been analytically introduced and explained. This study merely explores four of his plays (Tangna (Bottleneck), Ghoghnoos (Phoenix), Gole Atashin (Fiery Flower), and Khane Akhar (Last House)). The findings of this study are based on interpretational and analytical reading of the plays and library notes of the theoretical resources. The results indicated that his literary life undoubtedly impacted the production and structure of his plays.
