Abstract
Besides diversity in form, Iranian art and architecture have talked about one meaning and referred to similar concepts which rooted in Islamic- Iranian beliefs. One of most important concepts and meanings is hierarchy of fact, its most prioritized rank is present in paradise. Various concepts and elements have a relationship to paradise, concepts like: direct way bridge, life tree, paradisiacal streams, and gateways to paradise… . In Iranian art and architecture, these concepts and elements have appeared in various forms, also with different signs and designs like cedar, cypress and arborvitae also, in architecture as Hasht behesht (eight paradises) building and Si-o-Se pol (thirty three bridges), and in urbanization like chahār bagh (Four gardens). This research attempts to find actual concept of paradise in Iranian- Islamic thought and its appearance in art and architecture.
