An Overview to the Theories of Religious Development in the Context of Religious Education

Abstract
In this study, it will be discussed religious development and theory of religious development in some ways. For this purpose, in the first instance development will be examined. There are studies showing the existence of religious development in every individual as well as physical, psychological, cognitive and moral development. In these studies it was found that every person is in the process of religious development. For this it was used different scientific method such as observing children in classroom, asking some religious questions, showing some pictures represent religious symbolism especially younger children, implementing indepth interviews, and especially in recent years examining children’s diaries. As a result, the individual is in a process of religious development from an early age and it develops step by step with the support of the environmental conditions. Every theory gives a different area of development prominence but also it can be used in religious education in some aspects.
