Abstract
The Library & Knowledge Center of Binus University International implements a different lending policy for the quantity of collections and borrowing period for each type of library patron. Complaints have arisen from various library patrons due to the policy, although it has been adapted from the patrons’ information needs. This paper aims to analyze the cornerstone policy implemented by the Library and Knowledge Center of Binus University International in order to know if it is appropriate with the patrons’ information needs or not. A descriptive method and qualitative approach were used. The data was collected from interviews with informants who fit several criteria. The results reveal there are several factors underlying the differences in the lending policy for each type of patron. The policy has been conformed to meet the patrons’ information needs, but improvements should be made to improve the service of the Library & Knowledge Center of Binus University International to be excellent.
