Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the geographic structure and the impact of price and quantitative factors on the dynamics of Ukrainian cereal in 2015-2016 and to identify priority directions of cereal export potential of Ukraine in the short term. Results. Data of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations show that the dynamics of the cereals domestic use in Ukraine has little volatility. In this connection the increase in production contributes to growth of export crops. Thus, the increase in exports of cereals does not restrain domestic consumption. Realization of the Ukrainian grain export potential does not threaten the food security of the country and ensures receipt of foreign exchange earnings on the back of low capacity of the domestic market. Using the index method to analyze factors influencing on the cereal exports value in 2015-2016 revealed the following features: the growth of the value of exports was held only by increasing quantities against the background of falling export prices for such commodity groups as 1001 Wheat (+38%) and 1008 Buckwheat, millet and other cereals (+30%); increase in exports for the year occurred in three product subgroups: 1001 Wheat (+55%), 1008 Buckwheat, millet and other cereals (+74%) and 1003 Barley (+12%); increase of export prices observed during the year only two commodity items: 1002 Rye (+25%) and 1004 Oats (+9%). Conclusions. The priority directions of cereal exports potential of Ukraine there are: - use of the alternative crops for the production of high-quality finished food products and animal feed, and processing of grain as energy resources; - laying more bilateral agreements on exports of agricultural products including cereals to Asia, America, Africa, Australia and Oceania; - the gradual development of European agricultural market by improving the quality and environmental level of Ukrainian products; the execution of EU technical standards; - the simplification of procedures for clearance of exports and facilitate export activities of small and medium-sized producers of agriculture; - promoting the development of information support of foreign trade special for small scale production.
