Analyses of current state and prospects of field development peat of Rivne region

Abstract

The article provides the information on basic biological, energy and technological properties of peat and stocks of raw materials in Ukraine in whole and in Rivne region in particular. There were also prospective and existing products from peat and directions of its application, except energy use. Environmentally acceptable (EU standard) scale development of peat deposits is determined. The list of the most important requirements of peat as a raw material for the production of different products is stated. The work describes the features of the basic technological processes that are specific to the development of peat deposits located in Rivne region, and are quite specific. It is noted that the existing information on peat deposits and their real power and potential of technology today is unsatisfactory, taking its obsolescence into consideration, also rapid changes of modern mining and processing technologies, and most importantly Ukraine needs in their own energy resources. This study aims at clarifying the real state of reserves and deposits of peat of Rivne region and their technological potential. It is alleged that in Rivne region mining work can be simultaneously carried out in areas up to 1280 hectares and annually 650 thousand tonnes of milled peat can be produced; that reserve fund peaty area mostly consists of a number of large peat deposits that have commercial value; part peat deposits are concentrated in the northwestern part of the region and can be combined as a peat strong base and used separately, allowing raw materials to provide one or more businesses. Based on the analysis performed, it was concluded that the reserves of peat in Rivne region is 188700000 tonnes, and these reserves are adequate and appropriate for the condition for further development; the main reserves are concentrated in the northern territories of Rivne region; using environmentally acceptable (EU standard) scale development of peat deposits, extraction volume can be increased up to 650 thousand tons per year. The necessity of increasing mining activities by enterprises for extraction of Rivne region peat.
