ANALYSIS OF COMPETITIVENESS IN MACHINERY AND TRANSPORT EQUIPMENT SECTOR: THE CASE OF TURKEY, CHINA AND INDIA

Abstract

The importance of the concept of competitiveness is rapidly increasing with each passing day. Countries have entered into an effort to increase their competitiveness in order to increase their share in the international market. Competitiveness shows a country’s share in world trade of goods and services. Competitiveness is divided into three as company, industry and level of country. The main purpose of this study to measure the competitiveness of machinery and transport equipment sector in Turkey, China and India. It was used period of 2000-2014 in this study. As a method, Revealed Comparative Advantage Index, Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage Index and Trade Balance Index was used. In this study, as a result it was observed higher competitiveness in China’s machinery and transport equipment compared to Turkey and India.
