ANALYSIS OF THE CHANGES OF TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF LUBRICANT ACCORDING TO THE PROPORTION OF THE CONTENT OF AW AND EP ADDITIVES
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2015, Vol 263, Issue 5
Abstract
The article presents the influence of additives anti-wear (AW) and anti-seizure (EP) on changes in wear resistance in friction tests using the modified four-ball apparatus. The research encompassed lubrication compositions based on mineral oil. The influences of varying contents of one or multiple additives of these groups on the normalized index of “the wear limiting load capacity” were analysed. The tests and analysis of the results confirmed that the addition of anti-seizure additive (EP) deteriorated the positive influence of the anti-wear AW additive on the increase of the resistance of the test element to wear. The authors describe the dependence of the degree of the deterioration of the anti-wear properties of lubricant compositions caused by the EP additive that were increased by the addition of AW.
