Journal Title: Бюлетень "Ветеринарна біотехнологія" - Year 2019, Vol 34, Issue
Abstract
Introduction. According to the data of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, in Ukraine there are from 5 to 28 reporting points on swine erysipelas annually. However, there are actually much more. By the number of reporting points and the level of mortality, swine erysipelas is seventh among the 14 most common infectious diseases of pigs. Therefore, it is relevant today to study the issue of swine erysipelas spreading in Ukraine based on an epidemiological analysis. The goal of the work was to analyze the epizootic situation of the swine erysipelas in Ukraine in 2006-2017. Materials and methods. The analysis of the epizootic situation regarding swine erysipelas in Ukraine was carried out during 2006-2017 by the data analysis of reports on the results of pathological materials research of the State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise and regional state laboratories. Results of research and discussion. According to the data of veterinary reports, it was established that there were 39952 cases of swine erysipelas detected in 2006-2017 in pig farms of Ukraine. The largest number of cases of erysipelas was observed in 2006–2007 (5416 and 5258, respectively) and the smallest in 2017–1942. Each year, the largest number of cases of swine erysipelas was detected in the southeastern region of the country. The Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.0967, and did not confirm a statistical relationship between the number of livestock and the number of erysipelas cases in pigs. It was established that from 2006 to 2017 the frequency of swine erysipelas decreased by 2.8 times, which may be caused by an increase in the number of registered means of specific prophylaxis of this disease and the number of vaccinated livestock. Conclusions and prospect for further research. Every year, the largest number of cases of swine erysipelas was found in the Southeast region of the country, which includes Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kirovograd, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Kherson regions, Crimea, and Sevastopol. It was established that from 2006 to 2017 the frequency of swine erysipelas decreased by 2.8 times, which may be caused by an increase in the number of registered means of specific prophylaxis of this disease and the number of vaccinated livestock.
