Anti-Mobbing Policy as a Management Instrument

Abstract
The concept of mobbing in the context of work psychology was introduced in the 1980s by Heinz Leymann who, as far back as then, proved that psychic violence at work is both dangerous and widespread occurrence. In recent years mobbing has become a serious social, economic and health problem in many countries, also in Poland. Th is has not been caused by the increasing dynamics of the occurrence but mainly by the growth of social consciousness in this fi eld. The word mobbing usually arouses controversy when its meaning happens to be over interpreted or when it is used referring to situations that have nothing to do with mobbing. That is why all the actions taken up by diff erent media, national and social institutions aimed at making society realise what mobbing really is and what its consequences are seem to be so important. Considering the importance of advantageous psychosocial conditions of workplace and the scale of occurrence of negative behaviours at workplace in diff erent professional groups, the Polish legislator has introduced some suitable anti-mobbing regulations into the Labour Code. Th e aim of the following paper is to present the scheme of actions which can be taken by an employer in order to prevent mobbing (both primary and secondary prevention) and to which he is obliged by the Labour Code regulations. Th e consecutive stages of actions aimed at creating anti-mobbing procedure being a practical tool of anti-mobbing policy inside of each work place.
