Antimicrobial Activity Of Rhus Tripartitus Leaves Extracts On Pathogenic Human Bacteria
Journal Title: PhytoChem & BioSub Journal - Year 2018, Vol 12, Issue 2
Abstract
This study aims to assessing the bacteriocidal capacity of Rhus tripartitus leavesagainst six bacterial pathogenic strains by using different invitro techniques.Leaves extracts were performed with distilled water, alcohol, methanol, hexane and chloroform as solvent. Extract concentrations of 0.001,0.01 and 0.1 mg/mL were tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Enterococcus faecalisand Klebsiella pneumoniae. The determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration was carried out on a liquid medium and the extracts were analyzed by thin layer chromatography. All values of inhibition zones are the mean ± ES (standard error) of three replicates.Alcohol, chloroform and methanol extracts were found to be the most effective on tested strains. The maximum zone inhibition was 19 mm, and the minimum zone inhibition was 7 mm. Proteus mirabilis appears to be the most sensitive to all extracts. In contrast, Klebsiella pneumoniae, seems to be the less sensitive strain. With a broad antimicrobial spectrum, Rhus tripartitus can be considered an antibacterial agent and a natural substitute for synthetic antibiotics against infectious germs.
