Antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of aqueous extract of Linaria simplex DC.
Journal Title: PhytoChem & BioSub Journal - Year 2018, Vol 12, Issue 1
Abstract
Linaria simplex DC., is an annual or hardy plant wide represented in Algeria. Tested for their antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. Antioxidant properties were evaluated through the ability of the extract to scavenge DPPH radicals and the reducing power essay, however, the antimicrobial activity was tested with four bacterial strain and three fungi including yeast (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Bacillus subtilis ATCC6633, Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 13311, Aspergillus niger 2CA936, Aspergillus flavius NRRL3357 and Candida albicans ATCC1024). The obtained results show a weak antioxidant activity but an excellent antifungal power against Aspergillus flavius.
