Antioxidant Enzyme Profile of Macrobrachium rosenbergii under Vibrio harveyi Infection, Supplemented with Curcumin Derviatves Enriched Diet
Journal Title: International Journal of Zoological Investigations - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Aquaculture, presently accounts for roughly one-third of the world’s total supply of food fish. Presently, many freshwater and marine species are cultivated as highly productive and nutritious crops for human consumption. Freshwater species Macrobrachium rosenbergii is one of the important species with cultivation importance. They have higher export intensity. The increased demand leads to more production with the help of intensive farming. But these create more loss than profit due to various disease conditions. The diseases can be controlled by traditional ways. These rude methods are now not so satisfactory due to its adverse side effects. The application of vaccine and antibiotics cannot be considered as the effective method, because these produce antibiotic resistance as the reverse effect. The biomagnifications is the next effect if we increase the use of antibiotics. The present study deals with the application of three active principles from the Curcuma longa and study the effect on the antioxidant enzyme profiles. The application of Curcumin derivatives increased the enzyme profile.
