Antioxidative properties in two maize cultivar under low temperature
Journal Title: International Journal of Farming and Allied Sciences - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 6
Abstract
This study investigated the effects low temperature 15C on antioxidative properties in two cultivar maize (Zea Mays L. S. C. 704 and 206). Experiments show that MDA accumulate under cold. Other parameter such as anthocyanin change is not significant but flavonoids and antioxidative enzymes activity (CAT & POX) increased under low temperature. Phenolic compounds in SC 206 increased but in SC 704 declined. Generally anthocyanin, phenolic compounds, flavonoids and CAT &POX activity in SC 206 was more than the SC704.

Evaluation of lipase activity in some Aspergillus species
Lipase is an enzyme which is able to hydrolyze the esters and breakdown the triglycerides into glycerol and fatty acids. This enzyme is so noteworthy in organic chemistry and industry. Fungi are one of the microorganis...
The effect of drought stress on chlorophyll content, root growth, glucosinolate and proline in crop plants
Biotic and abiotic stress conditions such as high temperature, drought, salinity and chemical toxicity have been a threat to agriculture and agricultural fields in many parts of the world. There is a need to limit the...
Improvement of tropical soils fertility by amendment with organic and mineral fertilizers
The transformation of urban waste into useful and exploitable organic matter such as compost may lead to an increase in agricultural production. In that context, compost made from pig manure was prepared and used in co...
Application of Richards function to the description of growth of Green gram
The objective of this study was used a model to predict the growth process and derive growth parameters in green gram. For this aim, three models of growth include beta, gompertz and Richards was use. These models were...
The effect of salt stress on respiration, PSII function, chlorophyll, carbohydrate and nitrogen content in crop plants
Salinity is the major environmental factor limiting plant growth and productivity. Plants are subjected to various stresses, which they express by their response in the form of various biochemical changes in them, whic...
