Application of control charts for the analysis of the capability of measurement systems in the automotive industry

Abstract
The aim of this paper was the investigation of the capability of measurement systems in a chosen automotive company. This company provides filtration and engine peripherals, engine systems and components such as cylinder components, piston and valve train systems. For that reason, good quality is of crucial importance. In the paper three control methods of measurement systems called procedures were discussed. Then, the practical application of the first procedure was shown. For this purpose preliminary verification of a chosen measurement system on the basis of data collected from calibration with the application of the Pronimax V4 measuring instrument, produced by Promess, was done. The analysis of this measurement system with the use of the first procedure affirmed that the measurement system, which is used in the enterprise, is stable and usable. Such a statement was made on the basis of the values of capability indexes. In order to verify the results of the research ultimately the application of control charts as a tool for system assessment was suggested. The control charts were created with the application of the STATISTICA programme. All the results confirmed the capability of the measurement system to be used as it provides reliable results.
