Application of Edwin E. Gordon’s Concept in Common Music Education

Abstract

The paper reflects the author’s interests regarding sequential influence of music on primary school age students according to E. E. Gordon’s concept. The aim of the tests was to determine the level of first and fourth primary school formers’ music aptitudes and skills as well as to either prove or disprove the thesis formulated by the creator of the theory of music learning E. E. Gordon and concerning both necessity and efficiency of learning sequence activities irrespective of the child’s age. It was determined that Gordon’s concept as well as traditional musical influence bring positive results, however, external simulation in the form of sequential introducing of tonal and rhythm patterns into students’ glossary according to Gordon’s concept speeds up developmental changes in the field of music skills and abilities.
