The Image of the Blind Person and the Theme of Blindness in Philately

Abstract

The picture of the blind man and the theme of blindness in philately present a possibility for people to gain more knowledge about the blind, their potential capabilities, the Braille, and their orientation in the environment. Moreover, the paper aims to create a positive attitude towards vision impaired people and with the help of theoretical research methods investigates the implementation of the blind in philately. The examples of the contemporary art are analyzed as social phenomena. The paper presents the relationship between art and social events. Apart from art criticism, the objects in post stamps are analyzed through art sociology perspective and there is an attempt to detect the reflections of historic reality and their impact on a rational individual. The stamps on the theme of blindness are classified into independent groups.
