APPLICATION OF TWO THEORIES OF COGNITIVE SEMANTICS IN LINGUISTIC STUDIES: A REVIEW
Journal Title: Social Innova Sciences - Year 2021, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Cognitive semantics is a paradigm that, although it has been in the field of linguistics for years, is relevant in the various ways of studying language, so monitoring the applications of this theory is of great importance. In this sense, the objective of this research was to analyze two theories of cognitive semantics (the theory of prototypes and the theory of conceptual metaphor) and to identify the fields in which they are extrapolated in linguistic studies. For this, a bibliometry was carried out in the ScienceDirect, Google Scholar and SciELO databases, through the entry in the search engines of the words "cognitive semantics", "prototype theory", "metaphor theory" and variations of these, both in English and Spanish. A total of 35 articles were selected.
