Applications of biotechnology to the propagation of papaya
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2005, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
The papaya (Carica papaya L.) is one of the most world wide consumed fruit. The use of the biotechnology as a tool in the micropropagation of elite plant in this specie can be an alternative to acelarate its multiplication, as well as the comercial scale introduction of new varieties and hybrids. This work has as objetive to approach a general overview of the principal scientific considerations about the plant biotechnology use as a tool for the papaya in vitro propagation and conservation. Also, in this work, are showed some experience of the researchersfrom the Institute of Plants Biotechnology , that have a practical complement to this review.

Influence of the isolate on the phytotoxicity of the filtrate of the culture of Alternaria solani Sor. on potato plants var. ‘Desirée’
Growth in a PDA medium of six isolate of A. solani, coming from the microbial cultivation collection of the IBP, and the phytotoxic of culture filtrate of each one were studied to evaluate the influence of isolate in the...
Agricultural yield of potato lines planted out of season of plantation in a mountainous area
The present investigation was developed with the objective of evaluating the agricultural yield of four potato lines out of season of plantation. The lines IBP-27, IBP-30, IBP-101 and IBP-107 (obtained for the Potato Bre...
Relationship between phenotypic characters of plants of ‘Grande naine ’and‘ Calcutta 4 ’grown in vitro and their response to inoculation with Mycosphaerella fijiensis in a greenhouse
Resistance of some varieties of Musa sp. to Black Sigatoka is related to the presence of physical barriers associated with leaf anatomy. However, knowledge about the relationship between morphological characters and th...
Influence of 6-Benzylaminopurine on the in vitro behavior of Henequen plants obtained from embryos
In the acclimatization phase, a group of derived plants from henequen embryos, germinated in a medium with different concentrations of 6 BAP, was evaluated. In these results it is evidenced that the content of 6 BAP in t...
Reduction of negative environmental impact generated by residues of plant tissue culture laboratory
The research is based on the activity developed by teaching and research laboratories for biotechnology purposes with an environmental approach to determine potential contamination risk and analyze the residuals genera...
