ARCHAIC PERIOD OF PEDAGOGY: WORKS OF HOMER AND HESIOD AS REFLECTION OF PEDAGOGIC IDEAS IN ANCIENT GREEK SOCIETY

Abstract
The article is devoted to the archaic period of ancient pedagogy. It comprises thorough analysis of Homer’s and Hesiod’s works (‘Iliad’, ‘Odyssey’ and ‘Works and Days’ respectively) and description of the main principles used in children and youth upbringing in the society of that time. The conclusion made in it states that despite the fact of being works of the same historic era, pedagogic ideas described in them vary a lot. The article comprises original quotations from ancient Greek sources.
