ARCHAISATION OF MODERN CULTURE: ROTATIONS, FORMATS, REPRESENTATIONS

Abstract

Conditions of destruction of representative systems and global transformations actualize the interest in the ancient layers of culture, which found an expression in the archaism of the cultural space and are engraved in the concepts of "new barbarism", "neo-archaism", and "neo-tribalism". In each era, interest in the past is clearly outlined by value guidelines. Thus, the humanistic content of the Renaissance era is associated with the revival of the ancient heritage; in the nineteenth century, the field of European culture is characterized by egyptomania and indomania. During the twentieth century, interest in primitiveness is growing from its understanding as "primitive remnants" to the recognition of the identity of the archaic world. But if the preceding epochs are characterized by a more or less clearly defined picture of the world, then the hermeneutic procedure for the restoration of true archaic culture is metaphorical and uncertain. The article investigates the role of archaising culture in its processes of sense formation, in accordance with the palimpsest model of culture in the context of cultural-traumatic discourse. It reveals the ambiguity of the tendencies of "new barbarism" in the processes of the dynamics of culture, which are both constructive and destructive. It is proved that the palimpsest model of modern culture in different textualities contributes to actualization of search for the primary text as the basis of the reminder of pre-history and the desire to restore the sacred in a desacralized world. Multilayerness of the semiotic space of culture leads to the need for the interaction of different genesis structures, which preserve the memory of the whole. As a result of the centrifugal cultural tendencies, separate "islands" of the sacral appear as a form of its existence in the "scattered" state. The powerful potential of mass culture as a representation of the neo-arсhaic manifests the simulative nature of imitation, while the demand for archaic substrate makes it possible, through its rethinking, to include in the constructive process the reproduction of projections into both the past and the future of culture.
