Journal Title: Слов’янський збірник - Year 2014, Vol 0, Issue 18
Abstract
The article presents the areal characteristic of folk weaving vocabulary in Ukrainian dialects in the north of Moldova, as well as its structural and etymological analysis. The area is the place of historical ethnic Ukrainians, who under other ethnic environment conditions and distant source of the literary Ukrainian language preserved their native language and culture. Field studies have revealed among other rural population the preservation of knowledge about weaving, which was the traditional culture of the Ukrainians in Moldova in the first half of the 20th century, as well as a large number of weaving craft and woven fabric names, which they used in their speech. It is determined that the majority of nominations under analysis operate in other Ukrainian dialects, but there appeared the opportunity to submit and implement a scientific revolution in the number of surviving original speech dialect nomens, which give a special touch to the overall ethno-cultural palette of the Ukrainian diaspora.
