BANKS RESOURCE POTENTIAL IN UKRAINE : EVALUATION METHODS AND DIRECTIONS TO PROVIDING ITS SUFFICIENTNECY

Abstract

Introduction.The article indicates that importance of problems related to resource provision of banking activities is a result of current destabilization processes of economic development and functioning of economic activity entities. The banks should possess a set of resources being enough for crediting demands of economic activity entities, formation of respective reserves for risk coverage, and support of own liquidity. Purpose. The article purpose is systematization of theoretical statements and analysis of expediency of banking resource potential in accordance. Methods. The article has used general scientific methods of empirical and theoretical research, including: analysis and synthesis – to detail the subject of research and study its functional and structural components; monographic – to explore domestic and foreign experience the process of formation, placement and management of resource potential; methods of statistical analysis (comparison, grouping and graphic method) – for study and evaluation indicators ensure sufficient resource potential of banks. Results.The author has substantiated that analysis of resources, which are at Ukrainian banks’ disposal, requires consideration of all the banking assets, equities, and liabilities from the standpoint of their belonging to one of the groups, which are determined in compliance with categories of economic agents providing or involving resources. The article analyzes a position of banking resource potential. Discussion.The author has detected the main directions of providing expediency of banking resource potential, namely: implementation of new requirements regarding capital adequacy and solvency of banks according to Basel III principles; strengthening control over banking operations with related parties; strengthening protection of creditors’ rights; enhancement of investment attractiveness of the banking sector due to initiation of legislative changes; legislative prohibition of long-term premature denunciation of deposit agreements; other measures aimed at involvement of additional equities and liabilities in the banking system and general improvement of the economy.
