Abstract

Choral singing in Bulgaria has abounding history and key importance in the processes that form the Bulgarian national culture. Bulgarian choral creativity and performance are a part of the world musical culture. Fundamental research writings dedicated to the unique Bulgarian choral singing (A. Balareva "Choral work in Bulgaria from the middle of XIX century to 1944" and "Bulgarian Choral Acapella Creativity", E. Krasteva "Chamber Choirs in Bulgaria") reveal and define it as a phenomenon. The foundation of children’s choirs after the middle of the twentieth century takes an important place in the development of choral work in the country. They are an example of a "Creative Lab", in which it accomplishes really beneficial interaction between composers and performers. The mastery of these children's choirs provoked the creative invention of a number of composers, proof of which is the large number of children's choral songs created for these choirs. Characteristic of its richness in melody, harmony, invoice, metrology, choral-performing techniques and successful realization of these songs is undoubtedly possible only by an ensemble of professional vocal and technical skills. The following statement is an attempt to review and describe the processes, which are at the root of the genre "children's choral song" under the conditions of the late Bulgarian Revival. The focus of attention is on the use of children's choral songs in the process of musical-hearing education. The subject is motivated by the creative interests and scientific research of the author of the present study and is inspired by his practical work as a solfeggio teacher and choral conductor. There is evidence of the use of children's choral songs for the musical education at the beginning of their existence, during the Revival period, when music teachers create and use their prototypes - school songs of the Bulgarian revival, realizing the possibilities of impact they provide. The specific charge that these songs bear is related to the conditions to their emergence - a time of struggle for national liberation and for church independence, active absorption of European musical traditions, and the new Bulgarian education. These are the songs that lay the basis of the composer's art. This text explores the origin of the genre "children's choral song" as a result of the creative quests of the composers during the Bulgarian Revival, which marked the beginning of its evolution to the composers of our time. The article examines specific peculiarities allowing conclusions on the place and role of the choral song genre in the Revival cultural processes.
