Abstract
The article focuses on the biblical image-symbol as the element of religious worldview in Frank Peretti novels. The research defines the foundations and components of the religious worldview. The paper deals with the content of the biblical image-symbol as an element of the religious worldview. The research determines the most frequently used biblical image-symbols as an element of religious worldview in Peretti's novels. Using mystical thrillers by Frank Peretti, the author suggests a list of the most frequently used biblical image-symbols as an element of religious worldview in fictional discourse and explains their existence in Frank Peretti novels. The author of the article argues that the issues covered in the article correspond to the modern cognitive linguistics which determines the imagery and symbolism of the linguistic units as a foundation of formation and interpretation of fictional texts. The research says that the religious worldview is a model of the worldview that depends on a certain religion and denomination in particular. The basis of the religious (Christian) worldview is the Bible. The religious worldview consists of images, symbols, and concepts that reflect knowledge about the universe, God, and a man. Biblical image-symbol as the element of the religious worldview is represented in texts of fictional discourse. The biblical image-symbol is a complex semiotic construct that arises as a result of the combination of biblical images and symbols. The issues covered in the article need further research.
