Bibliotecas Universitárias como espaços de aprendizagem

Abstract
Libraries are spaces for the conservation of a society’s intellectual, literary, artistic and scientific heritage, and have had an inseparable relationship with universities. This article proposes to reflect upon university libraries as learning spaces. Theoretical reflection on the concepts of library and learning from literature review. The studies of Lev Vygotsky make up our theoretical foundation about learning processes and our analysis on the library as a learning space finds support in various authors from the fields of Librarianship, Information Science and Education. The university library is intrinsically related to research and the teaching-learning process through the development of mediatory activities with its users in the search for information and in its transformation into knowledge. Among the many non-formal learning environments, the university library stands out as to the intentionality in its usage, that is, people frequent it out of their own will and initiative.
