Biological methods in the reconstruction of massive bone defects after local resection of bone tumors in children
Journal Title: Ortopedia Traumatologia Rehabilitacja - Year 2005, Vol 7, Issue 5
Abstract
This article describes our clinical experience with the so-called biological methods of reconstruction after limb salvage bone tumor resections. Depending on the localization and resection type (transarticular, extraarticular) we have used various types of auto- and allogenic bone grafts, arthrodesis, arthrodesis with elongation, and Van Nes rotationplasty. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods are discussed.
