Journal Title: Dokuz Eylul Universitesi Tip Fakultesi Dergisi - Year 2018, Vol 32, Issue 2
Abstract
Foot pain and edema etiology can be various due to traumatic, inflammatory or mechanical reasons. History, physical examination and radiologic evaluation might be helpful to establish a reasonable differential diagnosis. Further radiologic studies should be considered if the history is atypical and the laboratory tests are inconclusive. Calcaneus is a rare place for stress fractures. Stress fractures can be divided into two groups, fatigue fractures and insufficiency fractures. Fatigue fractures are the fractures which occur in normal bone that is abnormally loaded whereas insufficiency fracture results when normal stress is applied to abnormal bone. In this case report we present a patient with normal X-ray radiography at first visit, then after her complaints resumed, on her magnetic resonance imaging calcaneus fracture is detected, being considered secondary to pes cavus deformity, with complex regional pain syndrome.
