CARDANOL OXYETHYLATIES AS ALTERNATIVE MAINTENANCE FLUID COMPONENTS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 245, Issue 5

Abstract

The lubricating properties of vegetable base components in the aspect of their application in cutting fluids were tested and compared. These included cardanol (the main component of cashew nutshell liquid), products of oxyethylation of cardanol as well as mixture of oxyethylaties and synthetic ester. The oxyethylaties by different degree of addition of ethylene oxide were examined. The antiwear and extreme-pressure properties of the formulated base components were investigated by means of a four-ball test device T-02 in a steel-on-steel system. The obtained results made it possible to select the product with the best lubricating properties.
