Cephalic Tetanus Masquerading as Bell’s Palsy: A Rare Case Report

Abstract

Background Cephalic tetanus is one of the rarest form of tetanus, and an obsolete presentation that a general practitioner comes across in this era of immunization and awareness. Case Report Here, we present the case of a 50-year-old male who visited the emergency Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with difficulty in opening his mouth and unilateral facial palsy after a surgery for a cyst over the right eyebrow. At 3 days post-surgery, facial palsy developed followed by trismuson the 6th day. Conclusion This case report presents a case of cephalic form of tetanus with perplexing clinical features, diagnostic dilemma and treatment management.
