CFD simulation of flow field and mixing performance in a microstructured mixer

Abstract

A multipore microtructured mixer has been developed by our group, our experimental results show that the micromixer has very high mixing performance. This paper presents the CFD simulation results for better understanding of the performance of the micromixer. A k-ε model has been used to simulate the flow field and mixing performance, combining with a generalized micromixing model. The flow field and mixing performance for the pore size from 10 μm to 70 μm have been simulated. The simulated results indicate that the flow field is relatively uniform and the mixing rate is very fast. With the increase of flow rates and decrease of the pore size, the mixing performance will be intensified greatly.
