Changes in the microcrystallization of oral fluid in the dynamics of treatment of catarrhal gingivitis in adolescents with chronic gastroduodenitis

Journal Title: Сучасна гастроентерологія - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 5

Abstract

Objective — to study the changes of microcrystallization of saliva in adolescents with chronic gastroduodenitis in the process of complex treatment of generalized catarrhal gingivitis. Materials and methods. The type of microcrystallization was studied in 63 adolescents aged 12 to 18 years, who were divided into two groups: the main group included 38 adolescents with catarrhal gingivitis against the background of chronic gastroduodenitis, the comparison group consisted of 25 adolescents with catarrhal gingivitis without somatic pathology before and after the treatment. The patients in the main group and the comparison group were divided into A and B subgroups. Patients of IA and IIA subgroups were administered a combined herbal antimicrobial medicine Stomatophyte in the form of rinsing with 15 % aqueous solution, application to the gum mucosa and into the interdental gaps of dentagel. For the purpose of general treatment, the intake of probiotic Yogurt was used internally administered. For the topical treatment, patients with IB and II subgroups used the gums irrigation with 0.05 % solution of chlorhexidine bichluconate, oral baths with herbal tinctures (camomile, calendula), Mefenate ointment applications on the gingival mucosa and into the interdental spaces. The investigation of saliva mineralization function with determination of the type of crystallization were carried out by the method of P. A. Leus in the modification of L. A. Dubrovina (1989). Results. In the adolescents of the main group, the predominant types II and III crystallization have been established. In adolescents in the comparison group, the II type crystallization prevailed, and number of persons with type III was significantly lower than in the main group, and with type I crystallization was higher. After the treatment, a decrease in the type III crystallization, and an increase in types II and I crystallization in all experimental subgroups, was revealed, but more pronounced changes were established in the adolescents who used the proposed treatment and prophylaxis complex, that testifies its effectiveness. Conclusions. The analysis of the results of the microcrystallization study of the oral fluid showed the dependence of the crystallization type from the general state of an organism, dental status and performed treatment performed. It confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method for the catarrhal gingivitis treatment. The investigation of the type of oral fluid crystallization can be used as a test for the assessment of the treatment efficacy of catarrhal gingivitis in adolescents.
