Chaperon DnaJ Influences the Formation of Biofilm in Escherichia coli
Journal Title: Polish Journal of Microbiology - Year 2015, Vol 64, Issue 3
Abstract
DnaJ chaperone, a member of the so called DnaK-DnaJ-GrpE chaperone machine plays an important role in cell physiology. The ability of Escherichia coli ΔdnaJ mutant to form biofilm was studied. It was shown that this mutant is impaired in biofilm development when exposed to 42°C for 2 h. The impairment in biofilm development was observed when the heat shock was applied either at the onset of biofilm formation or 2 h later. The biofilm formed was thinner and its structure was changed as compared to wild-type strain. This defect could be complemented by the introduction of a wild-type gene on a low-copy plasmid.

Participation of TP53 and Bcl-2 proteins in gastric carcinomas associated with Helicobacter pylori or Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)
In the presented studies p53 and bcl-2 proteins expression were evaluated in samples of gastric carcinomas in patients with Helicobacter pylori or EBV or without H. pylori/EBV infection. The studies w...
The probable interspecies transfer of the blaVIM-4 gene between Enterobacter cloacae and Klebsiella pneumoniae in a single infant patient
We report interspecies transfer of the bla[sub]VIM-4[/sub] gene in MBL-producing Enterobacter cloacae and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from a newborn patient who had received meropenem therapy. We sh...
Serotype-Specific Pneumococcal Status prior to PCV 13 Administration in Children and Adolescents with Inflammatory Bowel Disease
The aim of this study was to evaluate the serotype-specific pneumococcal status of children and adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who were naïve to pneumococcal vaccination before administering the 13-val...
Bacterial Communities from the Arsenic Mine in Złoty Stok, Sudety Mountains, Poland
Investigations of bacterial communities and characterization of mineralogy of the environment in the Złoty Stok As-Au deposit were carried out. PXRD analysis revealed the presence of picropharmacolite as the most common...
Characterization of Bacteria Isolation of Bacteria from Pinyon Rhizosphere, Producing Biosurfactants from Agro-Industrial Waste
Two hundred and fifty bacterial strains were isolated from pinyon rhizosphere and screened for biosurfactants production. Among them, six bacterial strains were selected for their potential to produce biosurfactants usin...
