CHARGE-DENSITY-WAV FEATURES IN TUNNEL SPECTRA OF HIGH-T SUPERCONDUCTORS
Journal Title: Metrology and Measurement Systems - Year 2008, Vol 15, Issue 2
Abstract
Tunnel conductance G(V) was calculated for junctions between a normal metal and a spatially inhomogeneous superconductor with a dielectric gap on the nested sections of the Fermi surface or between two such superconductors. The dielectric gapping was considered to be a consequence of the charge density wave (CDW) appearance. Spatial averaging was carried out over domains with randomly varying parameters of the CDW superconductor (CDWS). The calculated G(V)s demonstrate a smooth transformation from patterns with a pronounced dip-hump structure (DHS) at low temperature, T, into those with a pseudogap depletion of the electron density of states at higher T within the range of actual critical temperatures of the CDWS domains. Thus, it is shown that both the DHS and the pseudogap have the same origin. This circumstance provides a new insight into the problem and explains the peculiar features of G(V) for Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ and related high-Tc cuprates. At the same time, the approach, being quite general, can be applied to other CDWSs which belong to various other classes of materials.

ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTER DIFFERENTIAL NONLINEARITY ERROR CORRECTION IN BUILDING CONDUCTANCE HISTOGRAMS
In nanowire electrical conductance quantization studies, conductance histograms are built from a large number of conductance curves of conductance stepwise variations in time. The conductance curves are obtained by means...
SIMPLE METHOD OF 3D ERROR COMPENSATION OF TRIGGERING PROBES ON COORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE
In this study an automatic, simple algorithm of systematic error corrections of a CMM touch triggering probe is proposed. The whole process does not exceed a standard calibration procedure done on coordinate machine befo...
DYNAMIC MODELS OF ION-SELECTIVE ELECTRODES WITH THEIR ELECTRONIC INTERFACE
Dynamic models of an ion-selective electrode are analysed in this article taking into account the independence of values of its dynamic parameters from the value and direction of activity change. Unfortunately, a complic...
MONITORING OF DRY SLIDING WEAR USING FRACTAL ANALYSIS
Reliable online monitoring of wear remains a challenge to tribology research as well as to the industry. This paper presents a new method for monitoring of dry sliding wear using digital imaging and fractal analysis. Fra...
MEASURE OF ELECTRIC REACTIVE POWER
Generated electric power can either be dissipated or occur in the form of an electric field and a magnetic field. By replacing the voltage in the well-known equation for dissipated power (energy) with its derivative (a f...
