Circadian rhythm of blood pressure: an analysis based on “yingwei theory”

Journal Title: Journal of Air Force Medical University - Year 2023, Vol 44, Issue 4

Abstract

Yingwei is transformed from food and water. If the transformation is insufficient, the ability of resisting the external evils is weak, so the evils like wind, cold, heat and damp are easy to invade body. Therefore, Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases by Zhang Zhongjing focuses on the treatment of external evils and the strength of yingwei. The problem of food and clothing shortage in contemporary society has been solved. Abundant diet and abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism lead to eutrophication in the blood. Turbid pathogenic factors in body lead to weiqi going inwards and yingxue obstructing vessels. As a result, blood pressure increases and normal rhythm changes. The yingwei disorder is the driving factor for the increase of blood pressure. Blood pressure rhythm is also affected by yingwei. Perhaps the blood pressure can be regarded as the state of yingwei. It is inappropriate to decrease the blood pressure as soon as the blood pressure goes up. Understanding the yingwei mechanism behind hypertension will provide us with a new key to the clinical treatment of hypertension.
