Classification of enterprises’ business projects

Abstract
An important prerequisite for the effectiveness of enterprises’ business projects is their efficient management using modern approaches and tools. In general, such projects should be considered as an important factor in achieving strategic and tactical objectives of the business entity in the conditions of tough competition, limited resources, and a dynamic operating environment. The article focuses on an unsolved problem of the enterprises’ business projects typology, which complicates the possibility of methodical tools improving for economic evaluation and management. The assignment of each business project to certain types ensures the possibility of developing common approaches to managing them. It has been established that the classification of business projects by a number of significant and independent features is an important part of the managing process. It provides the opportunity to standardize the relevant subject area of research, as well as the unification of procedures and tools in this area. According to the results of the research, enterprises’ business projects are proposed to be classified according to the direction (internal, external), content (informational, technical, financial, marketing, administrative, etc.), scale for the enterprise (large, medium, small), complexity level (simple, complex), risk level (high risk, medium risk, low risk), source of financing (financed by own funds, financed by borrowed funds, financed at the expense of state or local budgets, financed at the expense of sponsors, mixed funding), object orientation (elemental, partial, complex), implementation term (long-term, medium-term, short-term), level of completeness (complete, incomplete), subjective composition of performers (realized by the enterprise or with the aid of external entities), level individualization (conditional-standard, conditional-non-standard), the source of the need for the construction and implementation (business projects, the necessity of which is predetermined by the enterprise or the business environment), the level of formalization (formalized on high, medium or low levels), the method of financing (funded by current or capital expenditure), the key criterion (with one key criterion or few criteria) and the nature of purposes (prospective, current). It is established that this list of classification features of business projects is not exhaustive, therefore, this classification is not completed. Other classification features are less significant, hence they are excluded from the above. It is emphasized that taking into account the given classification of business projects is an essential factor in ensuring an adequate level of work efficiency in this direction.
