Çocukluk Çağında Aile İçi Temas ile Bulaşan Nadir Bir Herpes Simplex Virus Enfeksiyonu Formu: Herpetik Dolama

Abstract

Herpetic whitlow is a rare skin disease in childhood that occur with type 1 or 2 herpes simplex virus (HSV). In this article we present a 11 month old girl who applied to the outpatient clinic with fever and swelling, redness and pus collection on the tip of the second finger of the left hand. On further history, it was revealed that,her mother had herpes labialis 1 week ago and was often kissing the baby’s hand. Appropriate treatment was started to clinically herpetic whitlow diagnosed patient. 10 days after treatment, the lesions showed a significant improvement in the outpatient control. Herpetic whitlow disease is diffucult to diagnose due to rare occurrence in childhood. Physicians should be vigilant in the diagnosis and treatment and also should offer suggestions to prevent family contact transmission path and otoinoculation.
