COGNITIVE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTURBANCES IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC VIRAL HEPATITIS B AND C

Abstract
Cognitive impairments mainly of mild degree have been established during standard neuropsychological testing of patients with chronic viral hepatitis. However, patients who received antiviral interferon therapy, showed a signifi cant deterioration of psychological condition, including depressive disorders of mild and moderate severity. Patients oft en complained of disturbance of diff erent sleep phases, impairment of memory and concentration. Patients, who had experience of illegal drug use, had the worst indicators of psychoneurological tests.
