COMMUNICATION RHIZOMATICS OF «THE PHARMACIST», A NOVEL BY YURIY VYNNYCHUK

Abstract
Postmodern Books (like «the Pharmacist» by Yu. Vynnychuk) regularly appear in contemporary Ukrainian literature. But the more meanings accumulated and citationality enhanced, the more these texts become rhizomes. Consequently, the problem of com-munication specifics emerges full blown because in order to properly understand rhizomes it is necessary to «follow rhizomes». The «Erwartungshorizont» of implied readers is to include schizoanalysis, which decreases the range to readers accustomed to postmod-ern works. Well, then how such books can be taken by other readers? Provided the structure elements in the figurative, thematic or narrative level are preserved, connotative, affective or cognitive perception of the text by readers is possible. But «The Pharmacist» lacks more than just figurative, thematic, narrative and genre sequence. The very existence of some characters and storylines is doubtful. Against this background, readers may either ignore the above peculiarities and focus on the only complete storyline de-scribing murder of a prostitute, or focus on the literary and critical concept. Then «The Pharmacist» can be seen as an anthology of the most interesting discourses for Ukrainian readers and establishment of peaceful coexistence of diverse identities, or read as an ironic unmasking and debunking of a human being as a reader desire machine, and literature as an endless accumulation of mean-ings. The future study of «The Pharmacist» is to compare the receptional peculiarities of the novel with computer games.
