COMPARATIVE CONSTRUCTIONS IN POETIC DISCOURSE (ON THE MATERIAL OF M. LISYANSKY’S WORKS)
Journal Title: Слов’янський збірник - Year 2016, Vol 0, Issue 20
Abstract
This article describes the semantic features of the comparative constructions in M. Lisyansky’s poetic discourse. The subject of the research is the semantic organization of the comparative constructions. The semantic explication and component analysis methods have been used to determine the identity of the members of the semantic organizations. In the course of the research the comparison is viewed as the opposition of the meanings expressed by linguistic means and performing a comparative function, regardless of the environment. The practical value of the obtained results is that they can be used in theoretical courses in stylistics, hermeneutics, in special courses in the linguistic and stylistic analysis of the text. Different types of the comparative constructions have been analyzed. The semantic identification of the subject and the object of the comparison in relation to their indefinite and specific qualities is predominantly carried out in the poems with the conjunction ,,kak (as / like)”. The subject of the comparison is compared with images in the constructions with the conjunctions ,,budto, kak budto, slovno (as if, as though)”. In the formations of the adjective in the comparative degree the general characteristic of the compared subject and object proves to be undetermined, because the comparison is carried out on the basis of the degree of the development of certain features. The comparative constructions in M. Lisyansky’s poetic discourse can vary significantly (repeat, focus, combine), thereby enhancing the effect of the comparison and creating additional imagery.
