Comparative Study on Machinability of Cast Irons with Different Tensile Strength
Journal Title: 河南科技大学学报(自然科学版) - Year 2016, Vol 37, Issue 3
Abstract
A spheroidal graphite cast iron, three compacted graphite irons and a gray cast iron were cast. The main cutting forces of five samples with different tensile strength were measured. The relationships among the tensile strength, main cutting force and microstructure were analyzed. The results show that both of the tensile strength and main cutting force of the cast irons with three graphite morphologies are influenced by the graphite morphology and matrix structure. However, the influence of the graphite morphology on the tensile strength is more obvious and the influence of the pearlite content in matrix on the main cutting force is more obvious. For different kinds of the cast irons, the main cutting force is not well corresponding to the tensile strength.
