Microstructure Characteristic and Defects of Alumina Ceramic Formed by Laser Additive Manufacturing
Journal Title: 河南科技大学学报(自然科学版) - Year 2019, Vol 40, Issue 4
Abstract
The laser additive manufacturing forming process of alumina ceramic materials was investigated. The internal microstructure characteristics and defects of the formed structure were observed by optical metallographic microscope. The effects of laser power on the quality and internal defects of the formed structure were explored. The experimental results show that laser additive manufacturing is a promising manufacturing technique for alumina ceramic materials, but there are some defects in the formed structure, such as the microcracks and micro-pores. With the increasing of laser power, the number and length of micro-crack defects in the formed structure show a trend of continuous increasing, and the micro-crack defects are mostly cold crocks which have a certain angel with the deposition direction.
