Comparison of chemical composition of rapeseed meals derived from winter rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) differing in colour of seeds

Abstract
Chemical composition of rapeseed meals obtained from rapeseed lines of various colour of seeds (58 yellow-seeded, 4 black-seeded and cultivars Californium and Bojan) has been evaluated. Yellow- seeded lines derive from crosses of the spontaneous mutant of lighter seeds, found in breeding material of double low winter rapeseed, with segregating, spotted-seed-coat spring line, from previous cross of B.napus with B.rapa. Rapeseed seeds used in experiments were produced in the years 2006–2008 at the same field. Seeds varied in the degree of colour, which were rated on a five-point scale from 0 to 5 (0 – black, 5 – light yellow). The results showed that the chemical composition of meal is related to the colour of seeds. The more yellow colour of meal the lower was the content of dietary fibre, Klason lignin in it and increased content of protein, minerals and sucrose.
