COMPETENСЕ APPROACH IN THE MODERN HIGHER MEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL EDUCATION

Abstract
In the article, attention has been focused on the concept “approach”. We have mentioned and characterized the factors, which determine the relevance of implementation of competence approach into higher medical and pharmaceutical education. The main aspects of the competence approach in higher medical and pharmaceutical education abroad have been characterized. The levels of development in medical education have been mentioned. We have analyzed the interpretation of the concepts of "competence" and "competency" as educational constructs of the competence approach. The concepts of "competence" and "competency" with regard to their use in higher medical and pharmaceutical education have been characterized. The conclusion on the direction of the competence approach in higher medical and pharmaceutical education, as well as on its basic theoretical concepts has been obtained.
